I'd skip this beach and head straight for red sand beach. Was way to crowded and so dirty from tourists not throwing away their rubbish in the bins. Had nice views and the swim was nice but ya I wouldn't recommend it to my friends
The sand is a color you don't see everyday-black! This beach is breathtakingly gorgeous! This because is actually made up of old lava and rocks and that's how it get its color, it actually hurts to walk barefoot. Contrary to that, it is amazing for lovely photos! #Abventurous
It's a nice little gem hidden after a long drive through the road to Hana. Black sand! That's rare. Also available are restrooms and shower. Vending machines outside restrooms. Waves were really strong and it was very windy but this appeared to be the theme around all of Maui during mid October 2017 when we went.
Easily our favourite part on the road to Hana. Was rough with waves and not good for swimming but something to see for sure.
More like black gravel but dont let that discourage your visit! Really cool place to check out. Hardened lava flows and fabulous ocean view. Not ideal for swimming but some folks were doing just that.
