The Banyan tree on the first half of the hike was also pretty incredible but not as impressive as the banyan tree in Lahaina.

I loved getting here! The hike soaking in the pools on the way up with the views of the Pacific as we were at the top of several different waterfalls was simply amazing. That was 20 - 25 years ago and still some of my best memories of my life. I loved the clacking of the part of the path through the bamboo forest, and coming out at the Waimoku Falls, although awe inspiring themselves, were almost anti-climatic. In this case the journey there was the best part. (and nice that the way back was downhill) We had spent the night before in Hana, had a nice breakfast and started our hike around 9 AM.

“The islands warm balmy airs are always blowing, the summer seas flash in the sunlight, the pulse of the surf continues its rhythm in my ears; I can see the garland crags, and its leaping cascading falls, its plumy green palms dancing drowsily at the shores edge, the remote summits that float like islands all their own above the clouds. I can feel the aural spirits of the woodland solitude, and hear their splashes, and lastly, within my nostrils both alive, and thriving are the breath of flowers that long since perished over twenty years ago.”

The bamboo is incredible to see and about 3/4 of the way to the falls. Check out my pictures tied to this review.

Aloha! One of the World's Most Beautiful Waterfalls. Its 400 ft. tall of beauty. So powerful and indeed a gift from above. Wow I said, what a awesome waterfall. The hike of the Pipiwai Trail was all worth it. Loved every minute of our hike. It was a moderate hike but awesome. Be careful as you approach the fall. I did and I bathe in it as well. Be quick as you take your photos and videos. There may be falling rocks so be smart. You are on vacation, do not ruin it. Ok.

Definitely worth a visit and pretty inspiring.

First, it cost $25 to get into the park and they prefer credit cards. This is a national park so the $25 ticket also gets you into the Crater as long as you visit within two days so plan accordingly.

Amazing falls.

Nice area. The people at the visitor center weren’t really interested in telling us what to do though

While the hike is pretty long and up hill on they way to the falls I wouldn't say it was very difficult. I have been on much more difficult, shorter hikes up to falls like this one. (Multnomah Falls in Oregon is a much more difficult hike if you have ever been there). Definitely a work out but not an incredibly strenuous one. At points on the path they actually laid wooden/composite walkways to make it a bit easier.

Second, it is about 2 miles to the falls and another 2 miles back. It took us about an hour and a half on the way up with stops for pictures multiple times and only about 45 minutes back down.
