Standing in the kitchen looking through the picture window over the coach you can glance left to see the rays of the morning sun then look straight ahead as the waves break on the reef before the second break in Hamoa Beach. No people, no buildings, just a few palm trees, vegetation and black lava rocks and Dan’s impeccable landscaping and maybe a whale or two way off in the distance.

beautifull

It seems that every vacation cottage has it issues, but not this one. Sandi makes sure of that. Impeccably maintained and clean with an outside shower and foot wash areas, no shoes inside, the sand stays outdoors. If you like to cook, the kitchen is well stocked and you have the best view to inspire creativity. Just pick up meats and maybe some frozen shrimp and pasta from Safeway or Costco in Kahului before your drive to Hana, then supplement it with Hasegawa General Store or Hana Ranch Store. Fresh veggies and especially fruits are easy to find at honor system roadside stands. We bought breadfruit just to say we tried it, cooked and mashed it with garlic and butter like mashed potatoes. It was so good, we ate it all. If you want fresh fish you might get lucky with professional spear fisherman working the reef to the left of the cottage all day and selling it just down the road at Koki Beach.

Stayed in the cottage overlooking Hamoa beach. Everything is perfect. Dan and Sandi are great hosts and have paid attention to every little detail. It's great, quiet place to get away from it all. It's a very short drive to Hana where you can buy groceries, get fresh fruit and vegetables at roadside stands and enjoy a plate lunch at one of the many food trucks. You are also a short drive from a few other one of a kind beaches. If you want to kick back and relax and leave the rest of the world's behind, this is the place to go.

The beach itself: Hamoa Beach is internationally known, but we owned it every morning until about 10.

Really beautiful place but super expensive but it is Hana!! Super special place! !!

When driving to Hana pull over for locals....do not be a road hog!!!

Awesome place, had some friends come visit and we rented out the little cottages. Very relaxing, gorgeoues views, very pleasant stay, and had some good local banana breads!

Sunday and Wed are Huli Huli chicken days in the hut at Koki starting at around 11 and running out by 4. I could on and on. Instead we are going back.

A cottage or suite at Hana Oceanfront Cottages is the place to stay if you want to totally unwind. Owners Dan & Sandi built their dream on a piece of east coast Maui oceanfront property that is like the reality iMax panorama unobstructed ocean view and sounds. We stayed in the front cottage.
